Road to Destiny

Not long ago my wife, Sola, and I went on a 'movie-date' and saw the movie "The International." It was quite the intriguing movie and it was peppered throughout with aphorisms that seemed to me to be really great life lessons. Here are a couple of them posted below. What do you think? Do you agree with them or not? Why?

Sometimes a man finds his destiny on the road he took to avoid it.

Sometimes the most difficult decision is knowing which bridge to cross and which one to burn. -- (Clive Owens’s character in The International)

Hmmm...
I am learning the first one right now...give me a year of living in Virginia and I'm sure I'll be telling you that God always knows better than I do...better than fear does...better than common sense. Oy...if only wisdom came in a bottle. :)

Sometimes we "avoid" our destiny not to avoid the destiny but to avoid the difficulty of the process and unknowingly walk away from some of the most difficult and best lessons we are to learn. The tough part is knowing the difference between when to "get out" and when to keep trudging through.

Fortunately, when God authors something, he fulfills his purpose. It's humbling to find your destiny in an unexpected place and a great reminder of just how small we truly are.

Thanks for the post! I need to go see this movie! :)

Thea, the reality is that in avoiding the difficulty on the road to meet our destiny, we actually avoid our destiny because the lessons we learn along the way are all part of destiny being fulfilled.
